Bruce Reed

FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Bruce is recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on standardized testing research and higher education trends, and he is a frequently requested guest speaker on the topic of college admission testing. He gives insightful presentations at dozens of schools each year and at regional and national college counseling conferences.
In 2004, Bruce co-founded Compass Education Group, an in-home and online tutoring company that provides one-on-one test preparation for students from the most educationally demanding schools in California and around the world. Since then, he has remained an invaluable resource for timely and thoughtful testing-related information and guidance for families, counselors, and journalists.

CONSULTATION

Compass Directors are leading experts in the field of admission testing. They will personally lead every aspect of your experience with Compass, including test recommendations, tutor selection, and ongoing oversight. Details of each student’s individualized preparation plan can be discussed after completion of a diagnostic test.

PROCTORED PRACTICE TESTS

We offer proctored practice exams every weekend at a variety of locations. The scores will be available within 2 business days and are a valuable planning tool for families, counselors, and Compass directors.

EVALUATION
Efficient and successful test prep relies on accurate diagnoses. Our practice tests provide a detailed portrait of your testing strengths and weaknesses, allowing us to make recommendations and adjustments tailored to your personal needs.

After a thorough assessment of testing data, background, needs, and goals, we develop an individualized plan. Because we do not offer “packages” of lessons, we have the flexibility to craft personalized programs of study that take these nuances into account.

We hold all our instructors to the same high standards, but that doesn’t mean they’re all the same. Your schedule, your learning style, even your outside interests – we consider all these factors in selecting the best instructor for you.
SUPPORT
Once lessons begin, our instructors and directors work together to monitor your progress and make adjustments until you achieve your score goals. We are never on auto-pilot, and our continued oversight drives the success of our programs.
