Compass Education Group is a leading provider of preparation for college admission tests. BHSEC Queens has partnered with Compass to provide on-campus resources and advising to families.

On Monday, January 14 at 5:30 P.M., families with students in 9th, 10th, and Year 1 are invited to attend an on-campus presentation. All in attendance will gain valuable insights about how to cope with college admission testing successfully. In addition, Year 1 families will learn more about the on-campus program for students to prepare for the March 27th SAT.

From early February through late March, BHSEC Queens will offer offer a comprehensive SAT prep program targeting the March 27th test date. See below for more information and to register.

Navigating College Admission Tests

On January 14, Compass Co-Founder Adam Ingersoll delivered a presentation to families on the ins and outs of college admission testing. Families who missed the event can download the handouts from this page and are welcome to contact Compass for an individual consultation and guidance. Major topics covered in the presentation included interpretation of PSAT and ACT practice test scores, how to carefully consider the SAT vs ACT decision, the role of Subject Tests, and best practices for calendaring test dates and test prep.

SAT Prep Class

Compass has been selected by BHSEC Queens to provide a comprehensive SAT prep class for Year 1 students taking the SAT on March 27. (10th grade students may be able to enroll if space is available.) The class will include six weeks of instruction and multiple opportunities to take full-length practice tests. The class will be taught by experienced and engaging instructors. The cost for the class is $695. Scholarship assistance may be available; please email your counselor at eyesner@bhsec.bard.edu to request a reduced fee.

LOCATION

The SAT Class will be held on the BHSEC Queens campus. The room assignment will be announced later.

SCHEDULE

The class will meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:00 PM starting the week of February 4 and continuing through March 20. No classes will be held the week of February 18.

Additionally, students will be encouraged to take at least two complete practice tests. Practice tests are held at the Compass office in Midtown at 1325 Sixth Ave. Students select practice test dates from the available options listed here. The class fee includes up to three proctored practice tests at no additional cost.
