How It Works!

Frequently Asked Questions

How many students per ACT class?

Maximum ACT prep course size is 15 students as this allows group tutoring with an individual focus. Because we offer so many different time slots, days, and classes, actual ACT class sizes can be much smaller.

What's your ACT course refund policy?

We understand that sometimes things happen! We will issue you a complete refund up to 48 hours in advance of the first instructional session of your ACT prep program.

Please note: You are responsible for returning your class materials to us. Class refunds are contingent upon the return of all previously mailed materials.

Do you register us for the official ACT exam?

No, Compass cannot register for the official ACT exam on a students behalf. We encourage students to secure a space for an official exam date prior to the start of class. You can register for the ACT here.

What kind of ACT score improvement can we expect to see from this class?

ACT score improvements vary based on several key factors:

  1. What is the student’s starting or baseline ACT score?
  2. What level of math has a student completed prior to the class?
  3. Does the student attend all instructional and ACT practice tests sessions?
  4. Does the student complete the homework assignments and follow the ACT class program?

For a student starting in the 20-25 Composite on the ACT, we expect to see a 3-6 point increase on the ACT scale.

How do the ACT practice test sessions work for students with accommodations?

Students with accommodations will be able to complete their ACT practice tests within extended time sessions. Compass provides proctored sessions for students 50% and 100% extended time. Please speak with your ACT instructor or our testing coordinator to share your needs.

If I have a conflict for one of my courses, can I attend a different section?

Students are only able to attend the class section they are registered for. However, classes are recorded and are available to all registered ACT students for viewing and instructors can be contacted during office hours to answer questions.

What if I can’t make a proctored ACT practice test session?

ACT practice tests can be self-administered at any time. We also have a flexible schedule of online proctoring sessions for make-up options.

If the section that I want to attend is full, will there be a waitlist?

Yes, please fill out this Form or contact us at classes@compassprep.com. We’ll alert you if and when space becomes available or another section is opened for enrollment.

Do you offer financial aid for ACT prep courses?

Yes, we have some limited ACT scholarship funds available. Most often, requests for aid come from our partner institutions and/or teachers who nominate a deserving student. Our ability to offer aid is also tied to the enrollment numbers for a particular section. Please contact us at classes@compassprep.com for more information if you qualify for financial aid.

Do you offer money-back score guarantees?

These types of guarantees come with inherent problems. In our experience, they often can’t be trusted, are rarely honored, always have fine print, never come without a big fight, kick in too late for the best possible student outcome, and are designed to put financial pressure on tutors, which adds stress to the students.

Compass offers a 30-year impeccable track record of consistent success for students and families. We are the absolute best in the business, have the most effective technology, utilize proven processes, offer 100% transparency, partner with nearly a thousand of the nation’s leading schools and experts. Not to mention we have been setting the test prep curve by always being one step ahead of the next test change.
